Cutting dinosaur bone today!  It’s always a treat to see how a piece will cut and polish out.  The colors are always amazing!

The local rock-hound club picnic was last week – at the auction I acquired an old rock tumbler.  It’s great – small size, old school.  I used it today – 1st time.  (Jewelers use a tumbler with shot in it to burnish, or harden and polish their metal.)  All of the silver came out black!  OH!  I think it’s the old rubber lined cans that came with the unit.  Clearly the black polished off and all’s fine – but now I’m looking for new cans…  The dilemma is to buy new 1 qt paint cans (replacing like for like) or to buy some cool see-thru barrels…  The paint cans would need to be lined with rubber (I assume a gasket material) and runs the risk of turning everything black…  The new ones are shaped already with flat sides for better movement of the shot inside them.  The difference is about $28…
