Mermaid’s Purses

Mermaid’s Purses:  Cotton with cotton and silk threads.  Heavy machine and hand work.  Reverse appliqué.  Several hand-crafted lamp work beads are featured as focal points.  Repurposed silk sari fabric is used as backing fabric.

A play on words…  A mermaid purse is a common referral to an egg sack from a shark.  Yet – whimsically I like to think that a mermaid would need a bright and shiny yet soft purse to carry her important things with her…
