Description

Sunstone Cab approximately 29x20x11.4mm.  It weighs 57.150ct. The back is clean and mostly smooth and is only slightly polished.  It has not been stabilized or treated in any fashion.  There is flash in this stone.  Most Sunstone is found as small rocks – think larger gravel.  I chose to leave this cab in a more “rock-like” condition.  I believe it could be bezel set or wirewrapped successfully – or some other creative use can be made of it.

The photographs are take in daylight, no artificial light is used.  I have cropped the photo but I have not “enhanced” it in any other way.

Sunstone is a form or Oligoclase (a type of Feldspar) and can be found is deposits across India  Canada, Norway  Russia and the United States.

I get my stone materials and cut, shape and polish them myself.  In general, I attempt to buy from the collector or some person no more than one step removed from the collector/miner.  Because I do all of my cutting/carving/polishing myself – there may be slight inconsistencies to the shape of the cabochon.  If this is generally accepted and does not very much affect the overall cabochon I will not mention it.  If you are looking for a “perfect” cab then you should find a seller from India or China or some other mass producer – these are generally made in factories.  I pick the placement of the cut to best profile the rock it comes from.  I do not sell any material that I would not use myself.

Natural stones are fragile and may break if dropped, heated directly, exposed to extreme temperatures, stepped on, etc.  Care should be taken.

People’s experience with cabochon’s vary.  Buying sight unseen sometimes results in perceptions that are unexpected.  I do accept returns, within 30 days of your purchase date.  The risk at this, however, is shared.  I will accept the return, but you must notify me in advance of your intention.  You will pay the return shipping.  The piece must be 100% in the same good condition in which I shipped it.  You must repackage the cab to ensure it arrives to me in unharmed condition (I would resuse the original shipping materials!).  I recommend you insure the piece to protect yourself.  Keep in mind that USPS or most any shipper will only take responsibility if the package is damaged…  Improperly cushioned/packaged items will not likely be reimbursed even with insurance.  Once I receive the cab I will promptly reimburse you in the same manner in which you paid me (credit card or PayPal).
